The Fisherman's Friends bring their authentic Cornish sea shanties to Brighton for a night of folk music and humour. Known for their a cappella style with occasional traditional instrumentation, the group has been performing since 1995 and signed with Universal Music Group in 2010. Their repertoire blends traditional songs of the sea with contemporary folk, often delivered with a large dash of humour.

Attendees can expect a lively performance from the current members, including Jeremy Brown, John Lethbridge, Jason Nicholas, Toby Lobb, John McDonnell, Jon Cleave, and Bill Hawkins. The group's roots in Port Isaac, where most members grew up within half a mile of the harbour, give their music an authentic maritime character. Their shows feature both shanties and other nautical songs, some fairly lewd, creating an engaging and spirited atmosphere.

This performance is a rare opportunity to see the semi-professional group, who typically tour only in November and February/March. Their Brighton date offers a chance to experience the charm and energy that have made them a beloved fixture at festivals like Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival.
