Dancing At Lughnasa, Brian Friel's play staged by Entr'acte Musical Theatre and Drama Society at Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin, 29 October to 1 November 2026.
Dancing At Lughnasa is a play by Brian Friel, staged at Smock Alley Theatre, 1662 in Dublin from 29 October to 1 November 2026. Entr’acte Musical Theatre and Drama Society presents the production in the Main Space. The story is set in Donegal in 1936 and centres on the five Mundy sisters, who live with their older brother, a priest just returned from Uganda, and the youngest sister’s seven year old son, Michael.
A grown up Michael narrates, and the play explores memory, family, and public and private life against the tension between Christianity and paganism. Performances are at 19:30 from Thursday 29 October to Saturday 31 October, with a matinee on Sunday 1 November at 14:00. Cian Gallagher directs.
The cast is Caoimhe Boyle, Simon Cunningham, Eoin Daly, Kate Gurren, Grace Kinirons, Ciaran Mooney, Muirne Shaw and Katie Taylor. Tickets cost €26, with an early bird offer at €23. The running time is 2 hours 30 minutes including a 15 minute interval.
