Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan, competing in the National Football League. The franchise originated in 1928 as the Portsmouth Spartans in Portsmouth, Ohio, joined the NFL in 1930, and was purchased by radio executive George A. Richards in 1934, who relocated the team to Detroit and renamed it after the Detroit Tigers baseball club.

À propos de Detroit Lions
The Lions won the NFL Championship in their second season in Detroit, 1935, and added further titles in 1952, 1953, and 1957, an era that featured Hall of Famers Bobby Layne and Doak Walker. The team has played its home games at Ford Field in downtown Detroit since 2002, following stints at Tiger Stadium and the Pontiac Silverdome.
Since 1934, the Lions have hosted an NFL game every Thanksgiving Day, a tradition that continues as one of the longest-running annual matchups in the league. After decades without a championship, the team drafted Calvin Johnson in 2007 and Matthew Stafford in 2008, and under head coach Dan Campbell, hired in 2021, won the NFC North division in 2023 and 2024.
Despite their early championship success, the Lions are the only franchise to have played throughout the Super Bowl era without reaching a Super Bowl appearance.
