Marco Masini is an Italian singer-songwriter, musician and pianist, born on 18 September 1964 in Florence. In 1986 he met the songwriter Giancarlo Bigazzi, who brought him into his writing team, and he worked on film soundtracks and toured with Umberto Tozzi and Raf. His music is usually classified as musica d'autore and pop.

He made his Sanremo Music Festival debut in 1990, winning the newcomers section with Disperato. His second album, Malinconoia (1991), sold over a million copies in Italy, and T'innamorerai (1993) also passed one million copies worldwide. He won the main Sanremo competition in 2004 with L'uomo volante, and has taken part in the festival ten times in total.

Later albums include Il cielo della vergine (1995), Scimmie (1998), Il giardino delle api (2005), L'Italia... e altre storie (2009), Niente d'importante (2011) and Spostato di un secondo (2017). In 2026 he competed at Sanremo alongside Fedez with Male necessario, which won the Sergio Bardotti prize for best lyrics.
