The Komische Nacht is a live comedy format in which comedians, cabaret artists and other humorists perform at cafés, restaurants and other venues in a town. At each venue, up to 5 comedians appear in one evening, each for about 20 minutes. Visitors do not travel from place to place: the comedians move between the venues instead.

Venues for the Komische Nacht range from restaurants and student pubs to cultural centres, hairdressing salons, cinema halls and cocktail bars. Between the performances there is time to talk, eat and drink.
