Die Jüdin von Toledo - Berlin Premiere at Schaubude Berlin

Die Jüdin von Toledo - Berlin Premiere is a puppet theater production by Cie. Freaks und Fremde, Dresden, at Schaubude Berlin, Greifswalder Straße 81-84, Berlin, on Friday, 19 February 2027, at 20:00. A second performance follows on Saturday, 20 February at 20:00.

The piece is based on Lion Feuchtwanger's historical novel and is performed in spoken German. It runs for 90 minutes. Performers and marionettes together create a tableau spanning centuries.

Muslim and Christian kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula struggle for power, and the Jewish merchant Jehuda Ibn Esra advocates for a peaceful and culturally flourishing Castile. The love between his daughter Raquel and the king appears to offer a glimmer of hope but throws everything into turmoil. When the war ends in catastrophe, Jewish people are turned into scapegoats.

The concept and performance are by Kathleen Gaube, Ariella Hirshfeld, Heiki Ikkola, Sabine Köhler and Dirk Neumann. Tickets are priced at 25 euros (supporter), 18 euros (regular) and 12 euros (discounted).
