A graduate of Chetham's School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, she later received a scholarship to the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.

There, she studied with leading pianists such as John Perry, Gilbert Kalish, and Anton Kuerti, and performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician. Her festival appearances include the Orford Arts Festival (Quebec), European Arts Festival (Germany), and Brighton Festival. She has also featured in a Carlton Television documentary, performing on Chopin's original piano.
