Wings of Desire is a 1987 romantic fantasy film directed by Wim Wenders, set in a Berlin divided by the Wall. The story follows invisible angels who listen to the thoughts of the city's inhabitants, comforting the distressed. One angel, Damiel, falls in love with a lonely trapeze artist and chooses to become mortal to experience human life.
The film features stunning black-and-white cinematography by Henri Alekan, with color used to represent the human world. The cast includes Bruno Ganz as Damiel, Solveig Dommartin as Marion, and Peter Falk as himself. The soundtrack includes performances by Nick Cave and Crime & the City Solution.
