Lire tous les détails

After three years closed for renovations, the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II reopens with a bold and ironic choice: Shakespeare's *Macbeth* — the very play that was on stage on the fateful night of December 2, 1964, when a powerful fire left the theatre in ruins, fueling the legends, superstitions, and curses that have always surrounded this tragedy.

Directed by Pedro Penim, this production features a large cast including Ana Coimbra, Ana Tang, Bárbara Branco, Bernardo de Lacerda, Hugo Van Der Ding, João Grosso, José Neves, José Raposo, June João, Sandro Feliciano, Stela, and Vítor Silva Costa. The run spans from September 18 to October 31, 2026, with special free-entry sessions on September 18, 19, and 20 (conditions to be announced).

Accessibility is a priority: performances on October 11 and 25 include Portuguese Sign Language interpretation and audio description. The historic venue, located at Praça Dom Pedro IV, offers a unique atmosphere for this iconic tragedy.
