New York Islanders
The New York Islanders are a professional ice hockey team based in Elmont, New York, competing in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. Founded in 1972 and named for their original Long Island home, the team was created partly to keep a rival World Hockey Association franchise from claiming the newly built Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.

על New York Islanders
After finishing well below .500 in their first two seasons, the Islanders built a roster that reached the playoffs in fourteen consecutive seasons starting with their third year. The franchise's defining achievement came in the early 1980s, when it won four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1980 to 1983, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers in turn, making it the first United States-based NHL team to win four straight titles.
The Islanders' dynasty-era roster featured Hall of Fame players including Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin, Bryan Trottier and Billy Smith. Following their championship run, the team continued as a fixture of the league, moving through several arenas over subsequent decades, including a period at Barclays Center in Brooklyn before relocating to UBS Arena in Elmont.
The Islanders now play their home games at UBS Arena as part of the NHL's Metropolitan Division.
