על Nigel Havers
Havers gained wider recognition through television dramas including the BBC's Nicholas Nickleby in 1977 and A Horseman Riding By in 1978, before his breakthrough as Lord Andrew Lindsay in the Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire in 1981, which brought him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Further film roles followed in A Passage to India, Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun and Farewell to the King through the 1980s.
On television he starred in the sitcom Don't Wait Up from 1983 to 1990 and later played Lewis Archer in Coronation Street from 2009 to 2019, alongside appearances in Downton Abbey and Finding Alice. His stage work has included Rebecca, The Importance of Being Earnest and Private Lives, and he has become a regular fixture of the West End's Christmas pantomime tradition.
In recent years Havers has appeared in Netflix's The Gentlemen and ITV's A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, and he hosts the BBC series The Bidding Room. He published an autobiography, Playing with Fire, in 2006.
