Literaturhaus Hamburg 2026 - Lutz Seiler

Lutz Seiler reads from his new novel »Das tickende Herz« on Tuesday 17 November 2026 at 19:30 at Literaturhaus Hamburg, Schwanenwik 38, 22087 Hamburg. The event is organised by Literaturhaus Hamburg, Schwanenwik 38, 22087 Hamburg, Deutschland. In »Das tickende Herz« (Suhrkamp), Seiler continues the story of his protagonist Carl Bischoff, who returns to Berlin around the turn of the millennium and meets Aysha, following her on a journey that leads beyond Berlin.

The novel connects a personal story with the major upheavals of the time and deals with closeness and strangeness, origins and memory, and the question of how far one can follow another person. Lutz Seiler was born in 1963. From 1993 to 1998 he was co-founder and co-editor of the literary magazine »moosbrand«.

In 2023 he was awarded the Georg-Büchner-Preis. Nadine Kreuzahler moderates the evening.

The venue is the white villa at Schwanenwik in Uhlenhorst, home since 1989 to authors including António Lobo Antunes, Feridun Zaimoglu, A. L. Kennedy and John Banville. The Literaturhaus also supports and curates events outside its own location.
