Rouen

Rouen is a Normandy city built around a Gothic cathedral that Monet painted more than thirty times, its half-timbered old town centred on the Gros-Horloge astronomical clock and the square where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. The Seine runs through the city on its way to the Channel.
