Guillaume & Harold: A Medieval Epic for All Ages

Gaëlle Bourges transforms the Bayeux Tapestry into a suspenseful, proto-streaming series in her show *Guillaume & Harold*. Two performers bring the 70-meter embroidery to life with cardboard props and imagination, recounting the clash for the English crown between William the Conqueror and Harold Godwinson. The production is a playful, family-friendly take on medieval history, complete with a mischievous narrator and an ABBA song.

The show is part of the Playground festival, organized by the Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis. Beyond the performance, the venue offers a tactile tour of the stage for visually impaired attendees, a post-show discussion with the artistic team, and a sign-language-interpreted performance. A parent-child workshop on November 18 lets families craft cardboard props inspired by the tapestry, exploring how simple materials become storytelling tools.
