The Orchestre Français des Jeunes, France's national youth orchestra, brings a program of Mozart and Schubert to the Théâtre du Châtelet. Founded in 1982 by the Ministry of Culture, the OFJ selects musicians aged 16 to 25 by audition, training them for professional orchestral careers. Under the direction of violinist and conductor Guillaume Chilemme, the concert features Mozart's first symphony (No. 1 in E-flat major) and his final, the celebrated "Jupiter" Symphony No. 41.
Soprano Sandrine Piau joins the orchestra for a selection of Schubert lieder, orchestrated by 20th-century composers including Max Reger, Anton Webern, Benjamin Britten, and Jacques Offenbach. The program traces a journey from Classicism through Romanticism to Modernism, offering a rich musical experience in the historic Châtelet venue.
