Wanderistan is a free guide to what is actually happening in a place — concerts, festivals and local events, the places worth your time around them, on-duty pharmacies when you need one, and what things cost. It is written for two readers at once: people who live somewhere and people who are only there for a few days.

Who publishes Wanderistan

Wanderistan is owned and published by Avenmark Media, which builds and operates a small portfolio of search-led websites. There is no separate newsroom: the site is run by a compact editorial and engineering team, and the same people who build the data pipelines decide what is fit to publish.

How we decide what to list

We list an event when we can tie it to a real date, a real venue and a source we can point you at. Coverage is deliberately uneven — we go deep on cities where we can actually verify what is on, rather than thin everywhere. If a listing has no confirmed date we mark it as unconfirmed instead of inventing one, and if an event has passed we keep the page and send you to the next edition or the relevant hub rather than deleting it.

Nobody can buy a listing, a ranking or a review. Commercial relationships are disclosed separately in our affiliate disclosure.

Where the data comes from

Events are aggregated from ticketing and listing feeds we have agreements with — among them Ticketmaster, Eventim, adticket, TicketOne and See Tickets — alongside official tourism boards and public open-data portals. Places, venues and maps are built on OpenStreetMap data. Pharmacy rotas are reproduced from official national rosters. Weather comes from Open-Meteo. Every listing links back to its official source where one exists.

How listings are enriched

Feeds arrive thin — often little more than a title, a date and a venue. We enrich each listing from its own source material and structured data to add context: what the event actually is, who is playing, how to get there and what else is on nearby. That enrichment is automated and reviewed against our editorial standards before a page goes live; a listing that cannot be enriched is held back rather than published bare. Translations into our other languages are produced the same way.

This means some prose on the site is machine-assisted. We think that is worth saying plainly rather than implying every word was hand-written. What is never automated is the decision about whether something is true enough to publish.
