Things to Do in Birkirkara 2026: Farsons Beer Festival & Feast of St Helen

שיתוף

Birkirkara is Malta's largest town by population and one of the busiest events hubs outside Valletta and Sliema — home to the historic Farsons Brewery (see our dedicated Farsons Beer Festival guide) and, each August, a run of neighbouring village feasts across the central towns.

The town's own titular feast honours St Helen on 22 August, with a second parish (Ta' Nazju) celebrating the Assumption of Our Lady on 14 August the same week as the neighbouring feasts of Lija, Ħamrun and Attard — making late July into August the busiest stretch of the year here.

Below are the upcoming 2026 events we track for Birkirkara, sorted by date. Confirm times and ticketing on the official parish, brewery or organiser page before you travel.

Why visit Birkirkara

Birkirkara is roughly central on Malta and one of the best-connected towns on the island by bus, making it an easy add-on rather than a standalone beach or nightlife base. The main draw for visitors is the Farsons Brewery, producer of Cisk lager since 1928, which hosts brewery tours as well as the summer beer festival.

The town's two feasts — St Helen (its own patron) and the Assumption at the Ta' Nazju parish — bring the same mix of band-club marches, processions and fireworks as any Maltese festa, on top of a busy year-round calendar of gigs and markets at venues in and around the town.
