Informazioni su Heaven 17
The band's commercial peak came in the early-to-mid 1980s. The album Penthouse and Pavement (1981) reached the UK top twenty and went gold, while The Luxury Gap (1983) climbed to number four and went platinum on the strength of the single "Temptation", the band's biggest hit at number two. The following album, How Men Are (1984), reached number twelve and was certified silver.
Heaven 17 began as a studio-only outfit and did not perform live until 1997. Ware and Marsh had already founded the production company British Electric Foundation alongside the band, writing and producing for other artists. Ian Craig Marsh left the group in 2006, leaving Ware and Gregory to continue as a duo.
Ware and Gregory remain active as Heaven 17 more than four decades after forming. In 2025 the pair confirmed they were completing their first album of new material since 2005's Before After, alongside a documentary directed by James Strong marking the band's 45th anniversary.
