Los Angeles Football Club
Los Angeles Football Club, known as LAFC, is an American professional soccer club based in Los Angeles that competes in Major League Soccer. The franchise was awarded to Los Angeles on 30 October 2014 following the dissolution of Chivas USA and began play in March 2018.

LAFC reached the playoffs in its debut season and won its first major trophy, the Supporters' Shield, in 2019 with a then-record 72 points, a campaign in which captain Carlos Vela was named league MVP after scoring 34 goals. The club went on to win the 2022 MLS Cup on penalties against the Philadelphia Union, a second Supporters' Shield that same year, and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2024.
LAFC's cross-town rivalry with LA Galaxy, known as El Trafico, has become one of Major League Soccer's marquee fixtures since the club's founding. Its ownership group includes actor Will Ferrell, basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and World Cup-winning player Mia Hamm, with Peter Guber serving as executive chairman.
The roster has featured high-profile international signings including Gareth Bale, Giorgio Chiellini, Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud, joined in 2025 by Son Heung-min. That year the club advanced to the quarterfinals of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup before elimination by Inter Miami CF.
