Informazioni su The Skids
The band reached the UK top 10 with the 1979 single Into the Valley, which remains its best-known song, and released the albums Scared to Dance (1979) and Days in Europa (1979) the same year. Their 1980 album The Absolute Game, also a UK top-10 entry, is generally regarded as their most commercially successful release and marked a shift toward a more anthemic, post-punk sound.
The Skids disbanded in 1982 after four studio albums. Adamson left in 1981 to form Big Country, becoming that band's singer and guitarist, while Jobson and bassist Russell Webb went on to form the Armoury Show. Adamson died in 2001.
The band has reunited periodically since 2007, touring to mark its 30th and 40th anniversaries, and has released new studio albums including Burning Cities (2018), Songs from a Haunted Ballroom (2021) and Destination Düsseldorf (2023). Richard Jobson continues to front the group, now alongside newer members including Connor Whyte and Nick Hernandez.
