Set on Roncalliplatz in front of Cologne Cathedral, the Christmas Market known as "Markt der Herzen" features over 140 festively decorated stalls. Visitors can browse handcrafted gifts, watch artisans demonstrate pottery or blacksmithing, and sample traditional German treats alongside international cuisine. The market's central stage hosts over 100 free events under a sparkling light canopy.
A dedicated children's program runs alongside the main entertainment, and since 2024 the market has held ISO certification for sustainability—a first among German Christmas markets. The market is closed on Totensonntag (22 November 2026).
