Didon et Énée in Paris

The story follows Aeneas after the fall of Troy as he seeks to marry Lavinia, daughter of King Latinus. He faces rivalry from the prince Turnus, favored by Queen Amata and the goddess Juno. Dido's ghost warns Lavinia against Aeneas, but ultimately the hero triumphs in single combat, and the opera concludes with the wedding of Aeneas and Lavinia.
