The Long Ryders in Kendal

The Long Ryders bring their blend of alternative country and Paisley Underground rock to Kendal. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, the band anticipated the alt-country movement with a sound rooted in Gram Parsons, the Byrds, and punk energy. Attendees can expect a set drawing from their 1980s catalog and their 2019 comeback album, their first in 32 years.

The current lineup features founding members Sid Griffin and Stephen McCarthy on vocals and guitar, alongside bassist Tom Stevens and drummer Greg Sowders. Their live shows are known for tight harmonies and a mix of jangly guitars and hard-edged rhythms, reflecting influences from Buffalo Springfield to electric Bob Dylan.
