USF Jazz Orchestra With Guest Artist Carl Fischer

Under the direction of Tom Brantley, the USF Jazz Orchestra presents its second concert of the fall in the Zinober Concert Hall on the USF campus. The evening features guest artist Carl Fischer on trumpet, a multi-instrumentalist with a career that includes stints with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra under Wynton Marsalis and a long association with Maynard Ferguson, where he became a featured soloist and musical director.

The 20-piece traditional big-band ensemble performs both classic and contemporary arrangements, and this concert highlights the group's standing as the top jazz big band at USF. Fischer—also comfortable on flugelhorn, trombone and saxophones—brings a versatile voice to the bandstand.
