Raised in a musical family — her father worked as a composer for Canadian television — she began writing songs at age 13, drawing early inspiration from Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears and Rihanna.

Her sound blends indie rock, hip-hop and dance influences within an irreverent, tongue-in-cheek pop style, exploring themes of vulnerability in relationships and substance-abuse struggles; she has cited Frank Ocean, Tove Lo and the Weeknd as influences. Other notable tracks include "Superstar," "Another One Down" and "Sick Puppy." She continues to tour behind her expanding catalog, including a run of European and North American dates billed as The Flowers Have Feelings Tour.
