Max Uthoff (born 24 September 1967 in Munich) is a German cabaret artist. His father, Reiner Uthoff, founded the Munich Rationaltheater in 1965, where Max gained his first stage experience. He studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from 1994 and passed the second state examination in 2002, and he has performed as a solo cabaret artist since 2007.
From 2011 to 2013 he appeared as the Anstaltsanwalt on the ZDF show Neues aus der Anstalt, and since February 2014 he has co-hosted its successor Die Anstalt with Claus von Wagner, joined by Maike Kühl since June 2024. His solo programmes include Sie befinden sich hier!, Oben bleiben, Gegendarstellung, Moskauer Hunde and Alles im Wunderland. He also performs the joint programme Einer zuviel with his daughter Toni.
His satire focuses on capitalism and the climate crisis, and a regional newspaper review of Gegendarstellung describes criticism aimed at several German politicians. His awards include the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis (2012), the Grimme-Preis for Die Anstalt (2015), the Hauptpreis of the Deutscher Kabarettpreis (2019) and the Dieter-Hildebrandt-Preis (2025).
