O The Mary Wallopers

Their sound blends traditional Irish folk with punk energy, drawing comparisons to the Pogues, the Dubliners and Lankum, and has been described as raucous and politically charged. The group released a self-titled debut album in 2022 and Irish Rock N Roll in 2023, mixing traditional standards with original songs on wealth inequality and institutional abuse in Ireland. A further album, Paddywhackery, was announced for 2026.

The original trio expanded in 2022 to as many as seven musicians, including Roisin Barrett on bass, Ken Mooney on drums and Finnian O'Connor on tin whistle and uilleann pipes. Accordion player Seamas Hyland left in late 2023, and founding member Sean McKenna departed in 2025 to pursue solo work. Charles Hendy has cited a reaction to poverty as the band's biggest thematic influence, alongside Dundalk musician Jinx Lennon.

The band has also been outspoken in its support for left-wing and pro-Palestinian causes, drawing attention for public statements at recent shows. The Mary Wallopers continue to record and perform around Charles and Andrew Hendy, with Paddywhackery set to extend their run of folk albums.
