Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city and its cultural heavyweight — grand Victorian architecture, a genuinely warm sense of humour, and a live-music and gig scene that punches well above its size. The West End feels studenty and bohemian around its galleries and cafes, while the centre delivers serious shopping (second in the UK only to London) and a buzzing pub and club circuit. It's grittier and less postcard-pretty than Edinburgh, and proud of it.
