Harlan Frank and The Houseplants are a Teesside based five piece band whos sound draws from a wide range of influences, moving fluidly between, blues, alternative rock, folk and shoegaze, combining raw, roots driven song writing with layered, atmospheric textures. The band have developed a style that resists easy catogorisation. Their new EP The Voyage represents a step forward in both scope and ambition.
Across it's six tracks, the record shifts between intimate and expansive moments, exploring themes of travel, uncertainty and personal change. From stripped-back passages to full immersive arrangements, the EP reflects a band willing to experiment while staying grounded in strong songwriting. The first new single "Little Ship" sets the tone for the project.
Built around funk influenced guitar and gradually unfolding into a wider more atmospheric sound, the track captures the sense of movement and openness that runs throughout the The Voyage. With a growing presence in the Norht East live scene and a series of releases leading into the EP, Harlan Frank and The Houseplants are continuing to push the momentum of their most fully realised project to date.
