Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids in London

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids bring their visionary blend of jazz, Afro-futurism, and spiritual exploration to London. Ackamoor, a multi-instrumentalist and tap dancer, founded the ensemble in the early 1970s at Antioch College, where they were part of Cecil Taylor's Black Music Ensemble. After touring Africa and adding new instruments, the band settled in San Francisco before disbanding in 1977, only to be revived decades later.

Their recent albums on Strut Records, including *We Be All Africans* and *An Angel Fell*, have re-established the Pyramids as a vital force in contemporary jazz. The 2023 album *Afro Futuristic Dreams* draws inspiration from science fiction writers Octavia E. Butler and Samuel R. Delany.
