Public Square: Charlotte's Civic Conversation Series

Public Square brings the tradition of American debate to life through civil and illuminating dialogue, opening with a conversation on freedom and responsibility. The evening features John Hood, President of the John William Pope Foundation, and Melissa Murray, Frederick I. and Grace Stokes Professor of Law at NYU School of Law, in conversation moderated by Carol Quillen. Together they explore where individual liberty ends and collective responsibility begins, one of the most pressing questions of our time.

Presented by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation, the series is brought to Charlotte through a partnership with the Morton and Durham families. It offers a chance to engage with big ideas in a setting designed for thoughtful exchange, making it a compelling outing for anyone interested in civic life and public discourse.
