Dylan Moran is an Irish comedian, actor and writer born in the early 1970s in Navan, County Meath. He began performing stand-up comedy around age twenty and won the So You Think You're Funny award in 1993, followed by the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1996.
He is best known for co-writing and starring in the sitcom Black Books (2000-2004), in which he played Bernard Black, an irascible bookshop owner; the show won two BAFTA Television Awards for Best Situation Comedy. Moran has also appeared in films including Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Run Fatboy Run (2007), and continues to tour internationally as a stand-up comedian known for a deadpan, satirical style.
