Hemlocke Springs, stylized in lowercase, is the stage name of Isimeme "Naomi" Udu, an American singer-songwriter born November 16, 1998, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Nigerian immigrant parents. Raised in Concord, she earned a degree in biology from Spelman College in 2021 and a master's in medical informatics from Dartmouth College in 2023, uploading self-produced songs to SoundCloud during her studies before pursuing music full time.

О hemlocke springs
Her sound draws on 1980s synth-pop and 2000s pop influences within alternative and bedroom-pop production. In 2022, her second self-produced single went viral on TikTok, described by critics as an "awkward Black girl anthem" and drawing comparisons to Marina and the Diamonds; it surpassed a million streams on Spotify. She followed with the EP Going...Going...Gone! in 2023 and her debut album, The Apple Tree Under the Sea, in 2026.
Hemlocke Springs has opened for artists including Muna, Ashnikko, Doja Cat, Chappell Roan, and Conan Gray, building a live show around brightly synthetic production and idiosyncratic, deadpan vocal delivery that echoes new wave and 2000s pop-rock songwriting.
