Blarney Castle & Gardens	Varies	2-3 hours	DAY TRIP (approx. 20 min / 8km from Cork city). 15th-century castle famous for the Blarney Stone at the top of the battlements, said to grant the 'gift of the gab' to those who kiss it; the surrounding gardens, Poison Garden and rock close are worth the visit even without the climb.
The English Market	Free	30-60 minutes	Historic covered food market dating to 1788, in continuous operation and a genuine working part of Cork life (Queen Elizabeth II famously visited in 2011). Browse artisan food stalls, fishmongers and butchers under Victorian ironwork; the market itself is a landmark, individual stalls are not in scope.
Titanic Experience Cobh	€12	1 hour (guided tour)	DAY TRIP (Cobh, approx. 25 min / 24km from Cork city). Located in the original White Star Line ticket office from which Titanic's final passengers boarded a tender out to the ship; guided tour with period recreations tells the story of Cobh's (then Queenstown's) role as Titanic's last port of call.
St Fin Barre's Cathedral	€8	45-60 minutes	Neo-Gothic Church of Ireland cathedral (completed 1879) on the site of Cork's original 7th-century monastic settlement, with an elaborately carved west front and gilded angel on the roof. One of the defining pieces of Cork's skyline.
Spike Island	€27.95	3-4 hours including ferry and tour	DAY TRIP (ferry from Kennedy Pier, Cobh, approx. 25 min drive to Cobh + 10 min ferry). Star-shaped fortress and former prison island in Cork Harbour, dubbed 'Ireland's Alcatraz'; ticket includes the ferry crossing and a guided storyteller-led tour of the fort and former punishment block.
Charles Fort	€5	1.5-2 hours	DAY TRIP (Kinsale, approx. 30 min / 25km from Cork city). Large 17th-century star-shaped coastal artillery fort overlooking Kinsale Harbour, one of the best-preserved of its kind in Europe; pair with a walk into Kinsale town for its harbour, gourmet food scene and Desmond Castle.
Cork City Gaol	€12	1-1.5 hours	Restored 19th-century prison in a castle-like Gothic building on the Lee's north bank, with furnished cells and audio-guided displays recreating the conditions of male, female and child prisoners. A short walk or drive from the city centre.
Fota Wildlife Park	€22.50	2.5-3 hours	DAY TRIP (approx. 20 min / 17km from Cork city, on the way to Cobh). Large open-range zoo/conservation park where many animals — including giraffes, cheetahs and lemurs — roam without visible enclosures; strong option for families with children.
Crawford Art Gallery	Free	1-1.5 hours	Cork's national-collection art gallery in a former custom house beside the Cork Opera House, holding Irish and European painting and sculpture from the 18th century to contemporary work, including classical plaster casts. A good indoor option and free to enter.
