Scottish indie pop band Mull Historical Society brings their deeply personal sound to Cambridge for an intimate evening. Led by Colin MacIntyre, the band is best known for their debut album *Loss*, which was inspired by the sudden death of MacIntyre's father in 1999 and his upbringing on the Isle of Mull. The album features samples from a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry and the waves of Calgary Bay, creating a unique sonic landscape that blends indie pop with heartfelt storytelling.
Attendees can expect a setlist drawing heavily from *Loss*, including singles like "Barcode Bypass" — a commentary on small shopkeepers threatened by supermarkets — and "Watching Xanadu," a track inspired by the cult film. The performance captures the raw emotion and inventive instrumentation that earned *Loss* a spot on Q's list of the best 50 albums of 2001. With MacIntyre handling vocals, guitars, keyboards, and programming, the show promises a rich, layered experience.
This is a rare chance to hear the album that defined a generation of Scottish indie music, performed in an intimate venue. Fans of thoughtful, narrative-driven pop won't want to miss this evening of music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
