Master of Magic: A Fantasy 4X Strategy Classic

Master of Magic is a single-player fantasy turn-based 4X strategy game where you play as a wizard aiming to dominate two linked worlds, Arcanus and Myrror. Starting from a small settlement, you manage resources, build cities and armies, and research spells to grow your empire and defeat rival wizards.

Developed by Simtex and published by MicroProse in 1994, the game is often described as a fantasy-themed spin-off of Civilization or Master of Orion. It has become a cult classic in the fantasy 4X niche, with a dedicated fanbase that still debates whether any later game has matched its unique blend of empire-building and spellcasting.

The game features six schools of magic—Life, Death, Chaos, Nature, Sorcery, and Arcane—inspired by Magic: The Gathering.
