Pamukkale is a small village built around white calcium travertine terraces and thermal pools that cascade down a hillside, next to the ancient Roman spa city of Hierapolis. It is a day-trip or overnight stop rather than a full city, visited for the terraces and the Hierapolis ruins and necropolis above them.
