KSO Q Series: Up Close at Elk Lodge

The Q Series puts the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in a smaller, more personal frame. Instead of the full orchestra, audiences get a woodwind quintet, brass quintet, or string quartet performing in the intimate setting of Elk Lodge — a chance to watch the KSO's players up close and hear how the ensemble works in miniature.

With roots that stretch back to the founding of the KSO, one of the longest-running continuing orchestras in the southeastern United States, the series carries a substantial musical pedigree. The orchestra has appeared at the Kennedy Center's SHIFT Festival of American Orchestras and maintains the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by resident conductor James Fellenbaum.

Music Director Aram Demirjian has led the orchestra since his appointment, and the KSO's guest roster has included violinists Midori and Stefan Jackiw. Whether the programme brings woodwinds, brass, or strings, the Q Series is an intimate way to experience Knoxville's orchestra.
