Kenneth MacMillan's ballet *L'Histoire de Manon*, based on Abbé Prévost's 1731 novel *Manon Lescaut*, comes to Paris for a limited run. The choreography, set to music by Jules Massenet, follows the tragic story of a young woman torn between love and wealth.
Attendees can expect a full-length narrative ballet with dramatic pas de deux and opulent designs by Nicholas Georgiadis. The production captures the precarious division between opulence and degradation, with the stench of poverty ever-present.
First performed by The Royal Ballet in 1974, this internationally recognised work continues to be a staple of the ballet repertoire. The Paris engagement offers a chance to see a classic of 20th-century dance.
