About B.G.
Alongside Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk, he formed the group Hot Boys in 1997. His 1999 single, Bling Bling, from the platinum album Chopper City in the Ghetto, popularized the slang term of the same name, which entered the Oxford English Dictionary in 2003.
Dorsey left Cash Money in the early 2000s amid financial disputes and founded his own label, Chopper City Records, continuing to release albums independently, including Livin' Legend (2003) and The Heart of tha Streetz (2005).
In 2012 he was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison on gun-possession and witness-tampering charges. Released in September 2023 after serving 11 years, Dorsey returned to recording, releasing the Gucci Mane collaboration Choppers & Bricks (2023) and Freedom of Speech (2025).
