Chat Pile
Chat Pile is an American noise rock band formed in Oklahoma City in February 2019. Its four members perform under stage pseudonyms — vocalist Raygun Busch, guitarist Luther Manhole, bassist Stin and drummer Cap'n Ron — adopted partly to separate the band from their day jobs. The name refers to "chat," waste piles left behind by lead and zinc mining in northeastern Oklahoma.

About Chat Pile
The band mixes noise rock with sludge metal, post-punk, nu metal and grunge, and its lyrics dwell on economic anxiety, illness and the collapse of ordinary life. Its 2022 debut album, God's Country, received a Best New Music honor from Pitchfork and a Metacritic score of 84, and was later ranked among Rolling Stone's 15 best metal albums of the year.
Chat Pile signed to the Flenser label in September 2020 after struggling for traction in Oklahoma City's local scene, having first drawn attention when an early EP charted unexpectedly on the crowd-review site Rate Your Music. The band cites Chicago noise-rock act Big Black as its biggest influence, and followed God's Country with the 2024 album Cool World, extending its abrasive sound to a wider audience.
In 2025 the band released a collaborative album, In the Earth Again, with guitarist Hayden Pedigo, and a further album, Who Loves the Sun, is set for September 2026, marking a steady stream of output in the years following its breakthrough.
