Gavin DeGraw is an American singer-songwriter born February 4, 1977, in South Fallsburg, New York, in the Catskills. Raised in a musical household, he began singing and playing piano at age eight, later citing Ray Charles and Sam Cooke as formative influences. He studied at Ithaca College and Boston's Berklee College of Music before pursuing music professionally.

DeGraw rose to national prominence with his 2003 debut album Chariot, whose single "I Don't Want to Be" became the theme song for the WB/CW television drama One Tree Hill and reached the Top 20 of the Billboard charts. His subsequent catalogue includes the songs "Follow Through," "In Love with a Girl," "Not Over You," "Soldier," "Sweeter" and "Best I Ever Had," spanning studio albums released across the 2000s and 2010s. His sound blends pop, soul and rock, built around his piano-driven songwriting and a soul-inflected vocal style.

He has sold more than a million records in the United States and built a career centered on radio-friendly singles and consistent touring rather than a single breakout persona, maintaining commercial visibility for two decades following his debut.

DeGraw continues to record and tour, performing material spanning his full catalogue from Chariot onward at venues across the United States.
