(Hed) p.e. is an American band formed in 1994 in Huntington Beach, California. The group was founded by vocalist Jared Gomes, who performs under the stage name M.C.U.D., alongside guitarist Wes Geer, with additional guitar, bass, drums, and turntable roles filled out over time. About (Hed) P.E.

Signed to Jive Records, the band released three albums for the label, including Broke (2000), which reached number 63 on the Billboard 200 behind the single "Bartender," a number 23 hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Blackout (2003) peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200, while Insomnia (2007) reached number 16 on the Independent Albums chart after the band's move to Suburban Noize Records. Across sixteen studio albums, the band has sold more than 700,000 records worldwide.

After departing Jive Records, (hed) p.e. signed with Suburban Noize Records from 2006 to 2010 before moving to Pavement Music in 2014, where the band has remained since. Its 2009 album, New World Orphans, engaged directly with 9/11 Truth movement themes, reflecting a political streak that has run through much of Gomes's lyric writing across the band's catalog.

The current lineup features Gomes on vocals alongside Kurt Blankenship on bass, Nathan Javier on guitar, and Stephen Arango on drums. The band released a covers album, New and Improved, in 2025, revisiting older material while continuing to tour extensively across North America.
