James are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982, taking their name from bassist Jim Glennie. The current lineup is led by singer Tim Booth alongside Glennie and longtime members including Saul Davies, Mark Hunter and David Baynton-Power.

Their music spans indie pop, alternative rock and the wider Madchester movement of the early 1990s, producing UK top-ten hits such as "Sit Down," "Come Home," "She's a Star" and "Laid." Albums including Gold Mother (1990) and Laid (1993) established the band nationally; after splitting in 2001 they reformed in 2007 and have released several further studio albums since.
