Russian Circles
Russian Circles is an American instrumental band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2004 by childhood friends Mike Sullivan on guitar and Dave Turncrantz on drums after their previous projects came to an end. The band's name comes from an ice hockey passing drill the pair played growing up in St. Louis. Bassist Colin DeKuiper played on the group's early releases before departing in 2007.

About Russian Circles
Brian Cook, formerly of Botch and These Arms Are Snakes, took over bass duties on the album Station and became a permanent member, rounding out the current lineup alongside Sullivan and Turncrantz. Working without a vocalist, the trio builds long-form, dynamically shifting compositions that draw on post-metal and post-rock, moving between quiet, textured passages and heavier, distorted crescendos.
The band's discography spans eight studio albums released between 2006 and 2022, including Enter (2006), Geneva (2009), which reached the Billboard Heatseekers chart, Empros (2011), and Gnosis (2022). Russian Circles have recorded with producer Kurt Ballou of Converge and enlisted singer Chelsea Wolfe as a guest vocalist on their 2013 album Memorial. A ninth studio album, Nine, is set for release in 2026.
