The world's leading freedivers gather in Limassol for the 37th AIDA World Championships, a depth freediving competition running 27 September to 10 October 2026 — the fifth time Cyprus has hosted the event. Held at Free2dive on 28 October Avenue, the free-to-attend competition covers deep-diving disciplines including constant weight and dynamic apnoea, with competitors from more than 50 countries.
The competition zone sits about a mile offshore in water roughly 170 metres deep, giving safety divers and judges room to work without disrupting the dives. Limassol's calm, clear Mediterranean water is one reason the championship keeps returning to the city.
