Neuruppin
Neuruppin was rebuilt in strict neoclassical style after an 1787 fire and is the birthplace of writer Theodor Fontane and architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, styling itself the Fontanestadt. Its planned streets and squares sit beside the Ruppiner See, Brandenburg's longest lake, an hour northwest of Berlin.
