9. Nacht der Lichtkunst - Lichtreise in die Region: Unna - Lünen - Unna 2026

The 9. Nacht der Lichtkunst - Lichtreise in die Region: Unna - Lünen - Unna takes place on Friday 23.10.2026 from 18:30 to 23:30. It begins at the Zentrum für Information und Bildung, Lindenplatz 1, 59423 Unna, and tickets start at 20,00 €.

The organiser is Kreisstadt Unna, Lindenplatz 1, 59423 Unna, Deutschland. After a short welcome, the light journey starts at the artwork "Light Phenomena" by Giny Vos, a glass cube with a total of 57,600 luminous LEDs inside. As travellers board the bus, the "Fibonacci-Reihe" by the artist Mario Merz also lights their way.

Participants then travel by Lichtreisebus to Unna-Lünern, where the programme includes a visit to the Evangelische Kirche Lünern, where the two works exhibited for the "9. Nächten der Lichtkunst" are viewed. The Lichtreisebus then brings participants to Lünen.

In Lünen, alongside some of the permanent light installations - such as the "Flusswächter" by Kazuo Katase - the light artworks presented exclusively in the Ev. Stadtkirche St. Georg are also visited. Back in Unna, historic industrial architecture and contemporary art meet in the vaulted cellars of the old Lindenbrauerei.

At the Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst, participants receive an insight into the current temporary exhibition "LIGHT DIALOGUES" at the end of the journey. The focus is on the creative and technical means with which artists use light to create effect, atmosphere and meaning. In cooperation with the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen, a dialogue arises between two houses, two collections - and the works.

The light journey ends at around 23.30. It is accompanied by Dominik Olbrisch.
