Bertram Engel: ,,Mit alten Männern spiel' ich nicht!'' - Eine Leseperformance mit Musik 2027

Bertram Engel performs "Mit alten Männern spiel' ich nicht! " - Eine Leseperformance mit Musik at the Capitol in Nordhorn on Thursday 1 April 2027 at 20:00. The venue is at Neuenhauser Str.

13, 48529 Nordhorn. Tickets start at 35,90 €, and a discount is available. The organiser is Capitol Treff 13 e.

V., Neuenhauser Str. 13, 48529 Nordhorn, Deutschland. The programme is a mix of storytelling and reading, with performances of songs Bertram Engel wrote over the years for Peter Maffay and other major musicians.

He accompanies himself on the piano. It follows the success of his book of the same name, "Mit alten Männern spiel' ich nicht", which appeared in 2024 and reached the top ten of the SPIEGEL bestseller list. The book title comes from an outburst by Bertram Engel during studio recordings in Tutzing, when Peter Maffay and the rest of the band were too slow for his taste and rehearsals dragged on; he threw his sticks in the corner, stood up and left the studio.

Peter Maffay has often spoken about this scene and quoted his drummer as saying: "Mit alten Männern spiel' ich nicht". Bertram Engel plays in the bands of Udo Lindenberg and Peter Maffay, produced some of their albums and wrote some songs. He has also worked as a studio musician or band member for many other national and international artists, from Milva to Bruce Springsteen.

The Capitol is at Neuenhauser Str. 13, 48529 Nordhorn.

The former cinema closed in 2013 and the listed building stood empty for over ten years. After extensive conversion and restoration, the Capitol reopened in October 2024, this time as a socio-cultural centre rather than a cinema.
