Catarina oder Von der Schönheit, Faschisten zu töten is performed at Zimmertheater im Löwen, Kornhausstraße 5, 72070 Tübingen, on Thursday 17 December 2026 at 20:00. When the daughter refuses to continue the ritual, because she no longer believes in the logic of retribution and doubts violence as a legitimate means of defending freedom and democracy, a complex political and ethical debate begins within the family. The play asks what a fascist is today, how fascist rhetoric works, what it means today to act politically, what a defensive democracy can offer when resistance is not to turn into violence, and whether the rules of democracy may be broken in the search for other or better ways to defend it. It also cites Eva von Redecker: "dass wir den Faschismus auf nicht faschistische Weise zu bekämpfen lernen".

Tiago Rodrigues, born 1977 in Portugal, is an actor, director, dramatist and producer and has been director of the Avignon Festival since 2022; he has created more than 40 productions in over 25 countries in the last 20 years, founded the company Mundo Perfeito with Magda Bizarro in 2003, and became director of the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II in Lisbon in 2015. "Catarina e a beleza de matar fascistas" was premiered by Tiago Rodrigues in Portugal in 2020 and has been a guest in Europe many times. The cast is Paul Smollich (Marco), Udo Rau (Rui), Christina Weiser (Isabel), Sophie Maria Scherrieble (Sara), Thomas Bockelmann (Antonio) and Malte Flierenbaum (Romeu); direction is by Tobias Schilling, set and costume by Birgit Angele, dramaturgy by Dr. Stefan Tigges, and technical direction by Mike Michelius and Alexander Schwab.
